"OMG, the pollution now is so low on Cairo that even pyramids are coming back... The planet is healing!"

Funny how they always made it seem like they were in the middle of the desert. Was amazed when I visited back in '90 that, no.... they're at the edge of the city

I went on a Nile cruise two years ago, best holiday I’ve ever been on and trip of a lifetime. We were looked after and protected like VIPs we had people at the riverbank shouting and waving and thanking us for visiting wherever we went. The day we went to the pyramids we all got up super early and our bus took us through the permanent traffic jam of Cairo, then as we drove out to Giza I saw a glimpse of a pyramid through two tower blocks and my mouth literally dropped open, I was pressed up against the window like a child. I’ve wanted to see Egypt ever since I was a little girl at the Tutankhamen exhibition in London in the 70’s, it was a dream come true to be there. We were escorted to antiquities all along the Nile and I fell in love with the story of Ankhenaten the heretic pharaoh which unfolded as we sailed along, we even visited the site of Armana in the desert, now just wind and sand. I loved Egypt.
