The hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender will be available to stream on Netflix in the U.S. starting May 15th. Netflix officially announced via Twitter that all three seasons of the show would be arriving on the service next month.

The Nickelodeon show premiered in 2005 and ran until 2008. Set in a fantasy world where certain individuals can harness the four elements with specialized martial-arts moves, the show follows the titular Avatar, the only person capable of mastering all four elemental styles. The Avatar is reborn once every generation and is meant to maintain balance between the four elements and their wielders, but as the series begins, the Avatar has been missing from the world for a century. Reincarnated as a plucky 12-year-old named Aang, the Avatar and his friends must face the tyrannical Fire Nation, which is waging a devastating war against the rest of the world.

The series received critical acclaim and garnered a passionate fanbase during its run. A sequel series, The Legend of Korra, premiered in 2012. Another spinoff, M. Night Shyamalan’s legendarily terrible live-action movie adaptation, hit theaters in 2010. Netflix is currently working on an Avatar live-action project, bringing on series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko as executive producers.

Zuko's character arc is still almost unparalleled. The writing for this show is just so great.

I first watched this on Netflix probably six or seven years ago. Then three years ago doing a rewatch of it on Amazon Prime. Halfway through S1, all seasons were removed overnight. Been dying to rewatch it all!

Edit: I’ve seen the show twice already and do own it on dvd. I know of other ways of watching it online, but streaming is the most convenient.
