For all you newcomers to the series that didn't know - the reason furniture becomes a leaf when you pick them up is because Tom Nook is a tanuki, not a raccoon. In mythology, tanuki use a leaf with the magical power of metamorphosis to become whatever they desire. Just thought I'd share!

Yeah, they make illusions with leaves too- Tom Nook may be charging us to buy "furniture" when in reality, us and our animal villagers are probably sleeping in piles of leaves that we only think are tables, chairs, beds etc.
