I think they announced the armistice, which signaled the end of the war, which was official a few days later. So it was a mistake https://www.history.com/news/false-armistice-report-world-war-i-early-celebration

There's a good story about the last soldier to be killed in the war - he charged a machine gun nest who was waving him off trying to avoid having to shoot him - but I don't have time to look it up- someone can get some free karma if they look it up I'm sure.

Ending battles (war) arround whole world with hundreds of soldiers who lost contact with own armies probably takes longer than 4 days.
