The reason people don’t like direct, practical solutions like to this is it’s very success illustrates just how much teenage sex is happening. Giving access to birth control lessens the negative impact to society but without punishing those that use it and that’s what the cultural right in this country wants above all: people to suffer for making decisions they believe are wrong.
This is called a middle ground. If you don't like abortions, then make women's birth control widely available with no hurdles so the women who don't want to have a baby won't have to worry about getting pregnant.

Right and people will say that taxes shouldn't pay for that and people need to be "personally responsible". Drives me crazy
