OP not to be cynical here, but if they did this they'll do worse. I've heard horror stories of torturing cats during Halloween or 4th of July or just for "fun." Especially right now when stupid shits have nothing better to do and they're bored at home, please keep your cat safe. My mom's childhood friend's cat was actually killed by firecracker... Story still haunts me. Please keep your kitty inside to spare him/her any more awful experiences with these sick fucks. And please report this to the police. I am so sorry this happened to your sweet baby.
It is also worth calling your vet. Spray paint can cause problems in the respiratory tract, block tear ducts, cause corneal ulcers, etc. Ugh I'm so fucking angry for you!
Edit to put this sick fuck on blast. He deleted his comment that said something about it being no big deal and it's just a cat implying he'd done similar things (can't remember the exact words in the comment) and then sent me this PM.
