No one would choose unemployment insurance over employment for any material amount of time. Unemployment runs out fast, you pay out the ass for COBRA and you are diminished in the eye of employers every additional month you're unemployed. Gtfo with that nonsense

First of all, WHY CANT WE?

like, it’s not a permanent suggestion. It’s a temporary increase to help keep the economy from totally crashing and the homeless population to go way up!

When j went to college, I worked full time and went to city college full time. And I got zero financial help from my parents. But because I was still a teenager, or rather because I was under the age of 26, I didn’t qualify for any financial aid or other financial assistance.

I had a friend my age, who’s parents also didn’t help her out financially at all, and she made more money through grants or whatever they call the money some college students get that is not required to be paid back, than I made working full time. (It was partially this uneven because I had to pay out of pocket for my textbooks and hers were covered/discounted).

Life isn’t fair. Life will never be fair. But one think I’ll bet my life on, none of these 1%ers would rather make a little more than minimum wage during this pandemic and then go back to minimum wage after all our COVID-19 relief money runs out. If anyone makes a little extra money during this crisis, you can be sure that they are some of the ones who needed it the most, this is not going to encourage anyone to create a new pandemic with the hopes of makes a couple bucks of the increase from their standard pay.

Right? I still have a part time job in retail but I would make more on EI if I quit right now, and I’m currently immunocompromised.
