No barks. No meows. Only human noises.

It’s rare to encounter a moment like this at an animal shelter.

Possibly the best news of the day, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) has found a forever home for every single cat and dog amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

HSPPR took to Facebook on Wednesday, thanking everyone who recently made adoptions from the shelter saying, “That’s right, Colorado Springs. You did it again! We emptied out our Cat Adoption Center on Tuesday, and last night, we adopted out every dog in our available dog kennel! Amazing! Just look at all those empty kennels. We can’t thank you enough for helping us find homes for all these amazing pets during this difficult time!”

In the video below, rows of empty kennels can be seen at the animal shelter located in Colorado Springs. While the shelter expects to see more “furry friends,” it’s a big victory adopting out all every single animal.

In other good news for pet lovers, you can still hit the trails with your four-legged friends.

While Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced the closing of all campgrounds on Thursday, all 41 state parks remain open and ready for hiking.

Additional closures include campgrounds, restrooms, trailheads, cabins and rentals, picnic areas, and trash facilities on national forest service lands. Both closures were announced shortly after a statewide ‘stay-at-home’ order was issued on Wednesday by Governor Jared Polis.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Dogs are not permitted in wildlife reserve areas or preservation trails. Before you go, check the state park page for specific information regarding trails and regulations. Just remember to leash and clean up after your pets. It’s also important to bring plenty of water for both you and your four-legged friends. Practice social distancing, stay safe, and have a tail-wagging good time!

In a world where every morning starts with turning on the news and opening up reddit to see how much insane shit has happened in the past 8 hours, my dogs are the only normalcy left in my world. Last month I knew I loved them. This month, the love has grown exponentially because of the love they give and that I desperately need. I know some people will abandon in a few months, but I suspect most will fall so in love with these little creatures that give us a feeling that we went back in time a couple months. They will never give them up.

If I were forced to say one positive thing the pandemic did...it made me realize dogs were 10x more incredible than they already were. Give yours dogs a treat.

COVID-19 is making people take everything. First there was Hand sanitizer, next bath tissue, now dogs.

These is great and both people and the animals benefit greatly. I have one concern about this though. What happens once people return to their jobs ? Will these animals suffer seperation anxiety as they were brought into a new home environment where alot of their owners are stuck at home all day with this COVID-19 outbreak. These animals will be so accustomed to having their owner there all the time. I just wonder how this will affect the animals.
