They have a hard time accepting that the man they put their hopes into turned out to be completely incompetent. Granted, 66M+ people of voting age in the US already knew that.
They will do their best to try to make it seem like Obama was just as bad as Trump. The difference is that Obama was smart and knew what he was doing. Trump is an oaf who lucked into most of his success.
Accepting that they voted for an idiot is a poor reflection on them so they dig their heels in further and try to salvage their egos.
