Insane or not, there needs to be a discussion about expectations regarding containing the dog. Example, and yes I love dogs, but my mom's dog is a total asshole, and he will break through the door any chance he gets... So we have an understanding that we need to be really tight regarding door opening around the little bastard. And I certainly would expect her to get pissed if I let the little bastard out.
Is OPs mom insane? Maybe, maybe not. But the lack of communication definitely is insane. Figure out a plan guys
