I predict in a couple more weeks as the shelves re-stock again and again that the herd mentality will subside. There's only so many 24 packs of TP you can store in your house.
while i do think lots of people are hoarding, i think there's also a huge population of people that basically just have condiments in their fridge 90% of the time when there isn't a pandemic, but are now suddenly doing real grocery trips instead of eating out and that's having a big impact.
today my grocery store started rationing, so only two items per household on things like eggs, toilet paper, water, ect. it was such a relief to see the shelves actually stocked with milk and eggs and tp. this is the way to do it from here and beyond and I hope more stores across the world start doing this too.
