Consider checking out my other images on Instagram if you'd like, and my partner on this image (u/ajamesmccarthy) other works can be found here on his instagram

This image is a bit different from what I normally do as you may know. Most of my work centers around deep space photography, compared to this image of our very own moon, which I captured with the help of my good friend /u/ajamesmccarthy, who does focus on our lunar companion.

In this image, the lit side was an 80 panel mosaic captured by me, and the dark side was a stack of 5300 frames from u/ajamesmccarthy, who painstakingly blended everything together to bring you this composite of our images.

I know this question is always asked, but I forget. Are the browns and blacks true colors or an artifact of the imaging process?

I don't know why, but every time a high resolution photo is posted of outer space I get legitimately creeped out. It's SO FAR AWAY yet here I am on a handheld supercomputer zooming in to see every crater and scar.
