She is limiting corona intake to become immune

Ugh. I work at a health facility, and we recently had to to have a care plan meeting in a patient's room that had a contagious respiratory disease. That means about 8 people in full isolation garb in a tiny room to discuss the patient's status with her. The social worker came in with her mask like this, and then when the hard of hearing patient had difficulty hearing her speak, got close to her ear, pulled the mask all the way down, and spoke loudly about 6 inches away from her. She hasn't gotten sick yet and it's been about 2 weeks, but she's been Typhoid Mary in my mind ever since.

I’m a physician. Those are N95 masks judging from the look. They do in fact offer protection from airborne pathogens. Unless she is in close contact with someone infected, she doesn’t need it. There’s also limited data about transmission of covid19 which is why there’s an over precaution for PPE with healthcare workers right now. To me it looks like this girl is outside, so unless she’s 6 feet away from a patient, there’s no reason to be wearing it. My guess is they are about to go into a room/location with patients who are infected/suspected. Those N95 masks are tough to breath in, uncomfortable, and make your glasses fog up. I would have it off my nose as well if I wasn’t near a patient.

Edit: thanks stranger for the coin. First time I have gotten them and not sure how to use it but definitely appreciated.
