LPT: Washing your hands is basically free and more effective
Edit: a lot of things to respond to here, but my wife who is an infectious disease specialist advised I just give you this pamphlet from the CDC on hand washing and sanitizers.
The things that are probably least well known but most important here are that hand washing technique (shown in the CDC pamphlet) is incredibly important and that the “wet time” or “contact time” with alcohol based sanitizers is also important. This is the time that the disinfectant needs to stay wet on a surface in order to ensure efficacy (CDC recommends 20 seconds which will probably sound like a lot but less time equals less killing power)
Edit 2: TIL there are no sinks on trains, there are no sinks in automobiles, you can not wash hands on a horse, you cannot wash hands on a mule, if you need to wash on the go, you must clean with sanitizer, now this I know
Edit 2a: Now I have the “sinks exist on trains” people mad at me just as much as the old “there’s no sinks in trains” people were.

And make your own hand-sanitizer if really nescessary ...
Grab a bottle of ethanol/isopropanol ... which is the component that actually does something in hand sanitizers against viruses ... and dump a bit of aloe-vera gel or glycerol in it, to prevent your hands from drying out ... hydrogen-peroxide if available. Just get at least 60% alcohol content by volume and less than 90%
