We look back on the Middle Ages and lords forcing peasants off the land for not paying outlandish taxes from their meager wages and think how barbaric and backward that time was...

How are we different? The “lord” has just become a bank, but they can still drive a person or family that is struggling from their home with no regard for need or emotion.

The point is not how rich they are, the point is how poor the poor are. They would rather burn 75% of their money than give 20% of it to poor people.

As long as you're poor, you're dependent on someone else. The billionaires want as many people as possible to be dependent on them, so they can control them.

It strikes me that so many people see capitalism as the endpoint of the evolution of economic systems, that we can't do any better, like capitalism has achieved some weird sort of Pareto efficiency in the world of economic philosophies. The day will come when we will have progressed beyond today's view of capitalism. I don't know what the dominant economic system will be then, but it won't look like what we have today.
