Senator Bernie Sanders has overtaken Senator Elizabeth Warren in her home state of Massachusetts, according to a recently released poll.

According to the poll, Mr Sanders received 25 percent support from the state's Democratic voters, while Ms Warren only received 17 percent.

Massachusetts is one of 14 states holding primary elections on 3 March, Super Tuesday. A Super PAC supporting Ms Warren's campaign recently poured $9 million into advertising in Texas, California and Massachusetts.

If Ms Warren loses her home state after performing poorly in Iowa and New Hampshire, there will be mounting pressure from inside the party for her to drop out. Whether her supporters - who are often characterised as progressives - will throw their support behind Mr Sanders or behind a moderate candidate remains to be seen.

Mr Sanders is expected to overwhelmingly win his home state of Vermont.

According to polling aggregates from FiveThirtyEight, the only Super Tuesday state where Ms Warren is competitive is Massachusetts, meaning a poor performance there could eliminate her only chance to pull any sizable number of delegates.

Ms Warren has given no indication she intends to drop out based on the results of Super Tuesday.

Yeah but the real story is today when Joe Biden wins a state that's not viable at all in the general. It'll be the first primary competition he has ever won in any of his three attempts. Every news Network will try to give him that "inevitable nominee" moniker despite 3 big losses in a row.

When Bernie wins California and Texas (which could actually be in play with Bernie) it won't get the attention that SC does.

Sanders is also leading Bloomberg in New York and Klobuchar in Minnesota

Figures project he may be ahead in Minnesota, but the latest polls show he is still behind. Sorry about that

I really like Warren, but it's seeming as though Sanders is gonna win it, which is still gonna be awesome
