I sold my 4yo washer and dryer for $100. When the buyer came to get it they dropped the dryer down the porch stairs. Literally 6months later I got a message saying the dryer didn’t work anymore and wanted me to fix or replace it. People are wild, man.
About 10 years ago I gave a pretty good desktop machine for free to one of my neighbour's kids to use for school. 2-3 years later my neighbour messaged me to tell me that the machine had died. I still remember the expectant tone of her voice, when she told me.
I said "So? What do you want me to do about it?" I was so irked. She backed right down, mumbled something and hung up.
