That definitely sucks. I’ve been in a similar situation so I feel for you...

If you have a lease contract term in place, it should carry over to the new owner. If you’re month to month, or near the end of the lease, unfortunately there’s not much you can do. I wish you these best of luck...

That really sucks.

My family (me, wife, 2 kids) were in a similar situation 2 years ago. We were given a 90-day notice though. We felt super rushed but eventually found a home to buy. Didn't have time to pick the perfect house though. We kinda just took whatever we could get and are now dealing with various home repairs.

Good luck to you out there.

Hey, I know something about this stuff.

The notice you have been served is probably a section 21 notice. This is the legal minimum a landlord must give if they want to evict on non-fault grounds - but that’s just the first step. They have to have a court order to end the tenancy unless you surrender, and getting he court order can take another four to eight weeks. If you’ve nowhere to go before the notice expires, do not leave.

The section 21 notice has to follow a certain procedure and many landlords get it wrong, meaning it’s not valid. Take it down to your local CAB if you have one.
