Me to my parents” Let’s think hypothetically, IF we could get universal health and childcare, as well as free education, for LESS total money than we spend now as a country, would that be a good thing?”

My parents, without thinking for even 0.2 seconds “No.”

Greed has won for years, poor people and middle class people defend billionaires because they think 'they worked hard, if we work hard we will be rich too." you wont ever be rich. People think healthcare for all is a handout and that poor people don't deserve it....then they go to church and thank Jesus and miss the entire point of their religion. Pathetic

I worked for a pharmaceutical company for a couple years. During that time I learned things you would not believe about the drug industry.

This company though, went from making $3mil/year, to $300m/year in the span of 1 year. That is, absolutely insane growth. I was curious so I began poking around.

I would learn how this came to be. Turns out, insurance companies billing government funded programs don't give 1 fuck about how big the bill is. This former employer of mine realized they could write literally any number on the price for the drug, and the insurance company would pay it, and then bill the government. No questions asked.

So an example of what they did: This toothpaste bottle of topical pain relief ointment. Let me say that again...Toothpaste bottle, of topical, pain relief ointment. Guess how much they were billing for ONE of those? $11,000.

Beyond that, I learned occasionally, the pharmacy techs would by hand remove a prescription that we were filling from the system, and then sell it privately to a competitor for a cash commission.

I had to quit that job and go back to hospitals. Too much risk corruption and fraud for my liking.
