Had a conversation with a labmate in grad school about taxation. Her parents got a 50k$ bonus (on top of 200k salary) and she was going on about how there's no reason for her parents to work hard if the government was just going to take half of it. I asked her if 25k$ isn't enough to motivate her to work hard, then could I have hers (grad students grossed 23k$/year as research assistants). She laughed but wouldn't talk to me about politics for a few years.
If becoming rich is the sole reason you're starting a business, you're gonna have a bad time. I started my own business because I was tired of a lazy boss siphoning off my surplus labor and telling me when I had to work.
