Alzheimer’s runs in my family. Once when my grandmother went to visit her mother in the nursing home, she opened by asking “Do you know who I am?” Without missing a beat, my great-grandmother replied”No, but if you go to that desk, they’ll tell you.”
My great gran has dementia. I told her that I was her great grand daughter, without missing a beat she replied with, "I don't like hearing that very much. They say I'm 90, but I feel 655"
