I have never been more deceptive in my life then when I was getting ready to propose. My wife is the master of surprise parties/hidden gifts, and I am usually such a terrible liar. But in the few months between buying the ring and popping the question you'd have thought I was spying for a foreign country. Hidden emails, hushed phone calls, meeting with her family behind her back. I even convinced her I was scared of commitment and not ready to be married yet.
I hated every second of it because she is my best friend and I wanted to tell her absolutely everything, but man the look on her face when I finally did propose made it all worth it.
