This wasn’t a spanking. He whipped this child as if he were an animal. No, not even an animal, because an animal doesn’t deserve to be beaten the way this child was. He stripped this child naked and beat him bloody. He whipped him with a belt so badly that the child suffered open wounds, lacerations and welts on his back and shoulders. The parts of his body that weren’t covered in open wounds were covered in bruises.

Where was the mother? That’s an excellent question. She claims she was asleep in the next room and heard absolutely nothing. Apparently, her child is the world’s quietest screamer or he has an inhuman ability to handle pain combined with a super hero’s self-control.

The person who can’t seem to understand why this man was arrested for beating this child should never call the police if he is assaulted. He should never want justice if someone decides to walk up to him and punch him in the face. If his partner decides to whip him bloody with a belt because he didn’t pick up his socks from the living room floor, he has no right to complain or call 911 to report that. Because it’s okay to hurt people if they don’t comply to your expectations, isn’t it? Even if they are a child and can’t defend themselves. Even if they are a child and are vulnerable. Even if they are a child and the power is unequal.

Both my parents were mentally and physically abused as kids. They decided not to hit me when growing up and I won't do it to my future children.

Mom was backhanded on a daily basis and my dad and siblings were belted all the time for such little things.

When I was 17 and failed a world history test my dad slammed my face into the kitchen table and broke my braces. To this day, even at 27 years old, I will instantly lie to my dad about anything that makes me feel uncomfortable. It’s a defense mechanism I was forced to learn because his anger scared me.
