Good King Whatshisname commissioned the building of the ship. Upon initial inspection, he believed it needed more guns so they added another gun deck above the original, making the ship too heavy. It was launched, it flipped over and sunk. Stockholm is an archipelago and the water is cold and brackish - it's this water composite that preserved the ship. Details be damned but that's what I remember from my visit. Also, Goonies.

Regardless of the fact it sank pretty much immediately upon hitting the water, you have to admire the fact that it would have been entirely hand crafted. There's some spectacular workmanship just in that.
