Black Knight is a unique Environmental Giant (like Sir Solstice), which can spawn in the over world. Unlike most giants, however, Black Knight primarily spawns in cities, where non-essential NPCS are at risk of being killed. Note: NPCs will usually run inside before he completely spawns, keeping them safe, but this is not always the case.

Black Knight’s spawn rate gradually increases as the level of smog in a given city goes up. In the first stage, a small light grey cloud hovers high above the city (sometimes obscured by clouds).

In the second stage, the cloud grows much larger and hovers just above the city (often obscuring clouds behind it). At this stage, Black Knight’s full formation is inevitable. NPcs will sometimes comment on it. (Ex. Greymoor, Keeper of Brightforge: “The Pestilence is here...I pray for our safety.”). Players within a 25 m radius of the cloud will take damage over time, unless they are equipped with a gas mask.

Note: In a stage dubbed “2.5” by the playerbase, NPCs will start running inside the buildings nearest to them, usually indicating that Black Knight will fully form in ~3 minutes. At this stage, this is the last time Players can purchase/sell/trade items with the NPCs in the city and with each other until Black Knight is defeated. Players can still enter the buildings after Black Knight has formed, but they will have generic disaster/raid dialogue, except airplane pilots for...some reason.

In stage 3, Black Knight fully forms and touches the ground. Unlike most other giants who are products of nature, Black Knight comes purely from the actions of active players in the overworld. For this reason, instead of having to stall until the Giant “goes away,” Black Knight plays out more like a traditional boss fight. Which is to say, he must be damaged until he “goes away”.

Black Knight is incredibly powerful, dealing some of the highest damage amongst his fellow giants, and can persist for several in-game days, even a week, unlike his peers. With his trade mark Smog Blade, he slashes players with wide swings and fast piercing attacks, leaving a trail of deadly poison gas for the unprepared to inhale. Here are the most important things to know:

Polluted Soul- This is Black Knight’s unique version of poison. Players close to him will take 70 HP in damage every time they breathe in, punishing players who use a lot of Stamina for attacks and need it to recharge. This effect can be nullified with a Level 30 or above gas mask, unless it is inflicted don the player by one of Black Knight’s attacks (25% proc).

Smog Dance- Every time Black Knight’s HP is decreased by ~10%, he will unleash a flurry of sweeping sword swings and AoE attacks, for a full minute. He can not be damaged within this time, and Players can not enter buildings during this time.

Toxic Love- Black Knight spews fumes from his “head,” engulfing the city in smokey darkness. It deals damage, obscures vision, and has a small chance of spawning Smog Succubi/Incubi.

Smog Succubi/Incubi- These infernal creations attack with vicious claws and precise kicks. If grabbed, they will leech a portion of the Player’s health, and return to their master’s body, healing them.

Loot- Once defeated, Black Knight doesn’t drop anything. Most Players view this as a punishment for their lack of environmental awareness. In fact, Players who participated may find that they’ve been fined by the city relative to their contribution to air pollution. This is based on a number of factors, many of which are for a different guide.

Note: Although Black Knight himself does not drop any loot, there are ways to obtain the [Smog Blade] and [Summon Smog Succubus/Incubus Spellbook], as well as tran-smog for Black Knight’s unique appearance.

EDIT- I was not expecting to wake up to so much support on a comment I put way too much thought into, but thanks! I really only do this on posts that I know I can make something out of, so if if something catches your eyes go ahead and write a paragraph or several on it lol. We can make all of the bosses much more interesting.

Edit 2- You mad lads did NOT have to Platinum me, but you did it anyway...thanks! Also if anyone’s wondering what the hell Sir Solstice is, I was referring to this post from a while back
