These are about to go on sale all over the place at Tucson's Annual International Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show. A tiny piece can cost $600 if it has the right coloring and is polished like a gemstone. Exhibitors from all over the World will offer all kinds of gems, fossils, complete dinosaur skeletons, and carved bones. I love going there. This will be my third time.
How large is it? It takes over the city with 40 to 50 separate venues spreadcthroughout empty parkibg lots, fairgrounds, and hotels. You see some crazy stuff! You can be standing in front of a table with $5 knick-knacks, and behind you is a $50,000 ruby, or a Million Dollar dinosaur skeleton. Meseum curators and gem artists do their yearly shopping here.
