I had a hs chemistry teacher who talked about giving fast-food cashiers change after they had already rung him up, because they'd fail to do the math and usually give him an extra dollar.

I recently had a woman be overly super amazed about my change giving abilities. Her total was 9.05, she gave me a ten, her change was 0.95. That's three quarters and two dimes. I got them out of the drawer so fast that she just blinked at me. "How did you do that so fast?" she exclaimed. "I.. uh..." I responded. "Is there a little change dispenser thing? How did you count it so fast??" She was seriously confused. I had no idea how to react to that. When you've been a cashier for a long time, you don't think in terms of counting, really. It's more like building blocks of change. You know?

I got yelled at because a lady was charged 1.66 for a can of soup that was marked 3/$5. She was mad because she should still get the sale price even if she was buying only 1 can. Math is hard.
