A lot of people who worked on GoT were the best though. Michele Clapton, Gemma Jackson, Nina Gold, et al. were invaluable to the look and feel of the show in the first few seasons. But they answered to two guys who weren’t the best and as the show went on, a lot of the detail and magic waned.

Other commenters have previously mentioned in other threads that D&D were more open to conferring with their crew and staff earlier on because, by their own admission, they didn’t know what they were doing. When they began consulting the incredible talent they had on set less often, it showed.

I don't think 2d understood why people loved the show. There are so many reasons beyond the boobs and violence that probably originally drew people to the show.

They thought people being shocked or surprised is what made people love the show. No, most people liked that characters suffered real consequences for their actions. No one had plot armor. The characters themselves weren't all good or bad. Good characters did bad things and bad characters had redeeming traits.

If GOT had been popcorn fluff from the beginning, most people would have not expected anything great from the ending. I also doubt the series would have lasted 8 seasons

Some cunt kneeler was bitching at me about my sense of entitlement while I was complaining over in /r/gameofthrones. I had to explain to him that that last season cost me $45 and that I had spent over $300 to watch the show up to that point. Yes, I believe forking a pile of cash over to a company gives me the right to feel like I should be getting my money's worth.
