One of the first few days of high school, a really cool & outgoing girl in my gym class made a comment about how gross the showers were. All of the other girls ignored her. They already knew each other, and it sort of seemed like they thought she was weird. I thought she was funny. Having 0 friends myself, I gathered any courage I could find, walked over to look, and made some conversation.
She gave me her AIM name, and we talked a bunch that night. She was new to town so she didn't know anyone else yet, and she invited me to a concert she had tickets to about a month later.
After a few more days, other people also started noticing how cool & outgoing she was, and she started making more friends. We talked less and less, and I never brought up the concert because I feared the worst. She never brought it up either. She ended up taking one of her new friends, without saying anything about it to me.
I'm the kind of person who is friendly with everyone, even those who you would expect to hate me, but the friendship are super shallow and once we don't have any classes together we stop talking.
