You don't find it odd that someone shot a man AND his 9-year-old daughter and thought they were BOTH deer? I don't know where you learned how to hunt but I learned to make sure you knew what you were shooting at. Also, after you kill a person, you don't shoot the witnesses, I mean keep shooting deer.
Edit : For all the people taking guesses at what happened, it's not a mystery. There was no magic bullet that killed both of them. You can read it all here or here
