It occurs to me that the survivors of the Jedi purge would not have had any idea that Anakin survived and was Vader. Especially if Obi Wan said that Anakin had died. The new helmeted Vader could have been a ghost story as far as they were concerned, a faceless killer hunting down every survivor, one after the other. Learning he was Anakin would have been pretty mental.
