ITT: people who do not understand that men have a problem with the principle behind being required to sign your body over to the government to use in war.

Are we in any real danger of being sent to war? No. Especially those of us older than 26.

But if your government holds ultimate say on if you live or die, and you have to grant them this right, then you don't have that right anymore.

If you have to register for a draft even if that draft never happens you do not have real freedom.

Well, the courts have actually ruled that only requiring men to sign up for the draft violates the 14th amendment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Coalition_for_Men_v._Selective_Service_System Thus far, the Department of Defense has defied the ruling. I figure this case will end up before the Supreme Court at some point. There's already been a similar case, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rostker_v._Goldberg , that ruled that only drafting men should be allowed on the basis of combat laws that excluded women from direct combat roles. Those laws have now changed, and that was the basis for National Coalition for Men case.

Kim Olson also took a forced early retirement in order to avoid prosecution for War Profiteering, so not the best person to get behind anyway.
