“Google Pixel 4a renders show the handset will have a 3.5mm audio jack, fingerprint sensor on the back, and a single rear camera”

Google launched its ‘a’ series of mid-range Pixel smartphones in May this year with the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. We already knew the Pixel 4a lineup will definitely launch in the first half of 2020 considering Pixel sales grew 2x year-over-year in Q2 2019, as per Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Now, 91mobiles has partnered with @OnLeaks to bring to you the first look at Pixel 4a smartphone with 5K renders and 360-degree video. The renders show the Pixel 4a will feature a punch-hole display, single camera on the back, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Google Pixel 4a renders reveal the handset will be the first in the Pixel lineup to feature a punch-hole in the top-left corner to house the selfie camera. The display will be flat and will measure 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch in size; this will be a small increase over the 5.6-inch screen of the Pixel 3a. A thin earpiece is visible above the display, and bezels around the screen are quite thick. However, the bezels above and below the screen are smaller than on its predecessor. It is unclear whether the handset will support Project Soli-based Motion Sense tech for gesture control, especially since the bezels are narrower than on Pixel 4.

Moving on to the back, we see the matte finish back and the protruding camera hump. The camera layout is similar to what we have seen on Pixel 4 as well as iPhone 11 series — however, this time around there is only a single sensor and a LED flash. According to @Onleaks, there will be more sensors housed within the camera module. Also on the back are the physical fingerprint sensor and the big ‘G’ logo.

On the right edge is the Volume rocker and an orange-coloured Power button while the left edge is barren. At the top edge is the 3.5mm audio jack, whereas the USB Type-C port and speaker grilles are positioned around it. Overall, the design shows Pixel 4a will be smaller in size thanks to the narrower bezels relative to Pixel 3a. It will measure 144.2 x 69.5 x 8.2mm in size (9mm including the rear camera bump).

Google Pixel 4a specifications and features

There is not a lot of information around the Pixel 4a and 4a XL available yet, but we can expect the handsets to launch at Google I/O 2020 developer conference — that means a launch in the first half of the year. It should come in the usual White and Black, as well as Purple colours, though the company may add another colour to the mix to keep things interesting (maybe Orange from Pixel 4 is could be ported here too). The smartphone should come with at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, along with a mid-tier chipset, perhaps the Snapdragon 730 or 765 series options. Apart from that, we can expect the Pixel 4a to feature a 12.2MP camera on the back and maybe 5G considering 2020 is the year the next-gen tech is going to go global.

I'm excited for this!

Hopefully they don't compromise on battery

Looks like a s10e with a pixel 4 back.

I do like the design of this render. I'll be looking to upgrade next year so hopefully the 4a brings as much to the table that the 3a did.
