American tipping culture is seriously nonsense. Both sides are right and wrong at the same time because owners are taking advantage of the situation.
Edit: I must admit I didn't know this was such an issue in US. Wish all servers the best since they are the ones getting the shortest stick in this whole situation.
From an outside perspective, I don't understand why the tip is "extra". Why not just a total and a note "tip included". Or just better salaries, either way.
