Hollywood superstar Nicolas Cage has revealed that he will donate $2 million (approximately £1.1 million) to Amnesty International.

The donation will help to fund rehabilitation shelters, medical services, and psychological services for former child soldiers.

According to BBC News, Cage, who has been working with Amnesty International USA for 2 years, released a video message about his donation.

He said, "Think about the nine months that it took for your child to be born; think about all the care you put into teaching them to cross the street and look both ways, or to read a book.

"Then imagine a warlord dropping a gun into his hands and forcing him to kill someone. He's eight years old. He hasn't kissed a girl yet, or fallen in love, but he's killed a man. What does that do to a child's mind?"

The star collaborated with Amnesty in 2005 on his film Lord of War in which he played the part of an international arms dealer.

Dare I say he's a national treasure?

Nicholas Cage's character in the film "Lord of war" is based on multiple people, most notably Viktor Bout and Sarkis Soghanalian.

It's crazy to think about how much armament went into the black market after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
