When I was in high school my parents took us on vacation to Europe. My dad had saved money for it and it was the first vacation we ever took that wasn't just one state over. We stayed in some town outside of Munich (I don't remember where) and rented a car, then took day trips driving all through southern Germany and the Alps.
My favorite place was the Black Forest. We went in October because it was cheaper, and I don't know if it's always foggy or if it's just an autumn thing, but every morning it was like this. I can still remember what it smelled like – this rich, sweet, damp smell of spruce and pine. To this day it's one of my favorite smells.

Black Forest in Germany is one of the most gorgeous places we have.
