I live in Portland, OR and my salary works out to about $22/hr. Not bad, not fantastic either. The punchline? To afford my car, my food, my health insurance, and just living in general, I have to have two roommates. Have to! To live on my own and to be comfortable I'd need another $10/hr or have to pick up 2-3 extra shifts a week. I already put in 45 hours a week...
I really only need ~20 hours to get this work done, and that's the most I can stretch it. Yet I have to look busy for the equivalent of two days. I feel for anyone putting in more than 40.

I got a job working 4 days/32 hours a week and I’ll never be able to go back. 3 day weekends are fucking glorious.
