The adoration on her face is the most wholesome thing ever.

20 years ago I let my then 8 year old daughter paint my toenails. Later that day, I went to my 30 and over baseball league game. Afterwards , I was changing out of my cleats to Birkenstock’s and there are my bright green toenails. My buddies were all laughing at me until another guy took his cleats off and HIS toenails were painted too! Had a good laugh about all of it.

Man I miss doing these sorts of things with my daughter, sadly they grow too fast.

There’s loads of stuff like this that as a dad you just do without even thinking about it. Like answering a pretend telephone.

One day me and the wife were having a rather heated argument. One of those sorts of arguments where, whilst not abusive nor physical from either side, was just loud shouting from both, neither really listening to the other, one of those regular loud shouting matches.

In waddles my toddler daughter carrying a wooden cooking spoon as a phone, reaches up to me and demanded I take the call. So I did. In the middle of this argument. And I sat there and had a pretend phone call. After a few minutes I handed the phone back over to my daughter as ‘nana wanted to speak to her’ and we all just sat there and giggled.

To this day don’t really entirely remember what we were arguing about to begin with.

Kids eh, they can be magic.
