Per my other post, the first comment proves this:

I just want to say that bedbugs are truly the worst! I experienced them about 8 years ago and still freak out if I see a black speck on my sheets. It doesn’t matter how clean you are. It someone brings them to your home then you’re stuck with them. They’re an absolute nightmare and I am still obsessive about laundry.

I own a flat in the UK, with a leasehold from the owner of the building. So I have responsibility for any pipes that only serve my flat, whereas the building owner is responsible for any pipes serving multiple flats.

A few years ago the neighbour below me reported a leak above their ceiling. The building owners badgered me big time about getting it fixed and arranging repairs and redecoration for the flat below. I called out a plumber who eventually managed to track the leak to a waste water pipe that ran from the top of the building, through my flat, and out to the sewer.

I told the building owners that it was a shared pipe so it was on them. They told me no, it was in my flat so I had to do it or they'd start legal action. I got back to them quoting the specific clauses in the leasehold agreement that showed I was right, and said they were welcome to try legal action, because they'd lose. Within a week they'd fixed it at zero cost to myself or the flat below.

Building owners/managers rely on people not knowing their rights, or particulars of their contracts. Never let them get away with it.
