I try to be positive with WIC users since it's mostly younger mothers that come through my store with WIC. When I was first checking, eWIC wasn't a thing yet so WIC checks took a few minutes to do and it stresses the customer out a lot because of the line behind them. The majority of WIC checks I saw were at night because of avoiding the longer lines.
When eWIC came out, it was honestly a blessing for both checker and customer. It made it easier for the customer since eWIC let's them choose whatever they want off of their list versus the checks specifying what can only be bought with the particular check. So if you didn't buy one thing on the check but got milk also, you lost that chance.
Honestly though, I don't judge anyone coming in with WIC or SNAP, everyone is trying to put food on the table and in their stomachs. I'd hate to see anyone go hungry or get criticized for financial hardship.
