This piano cost £45,000, the replacement was £85,000

Organisers of the Two Moors Festival in South Molton, Devon had spent two years fund-raising for the Bosendorfer piano, only to see it crash to the ground.

Now Bosendorfer has donated an £85,000 Imperial Concert grand piano for the festival, which starts on 12 October.

I used to move pianos, too. One day I was feeling under the weather so my mind wasn't really into the game. We were moving expensive pianos from Tom Lee music to a recital. After a few deliveries we had to move a few pianos around in the truck in order to make more space for another pickup. I stupidly forgot to strap one of the pianos to the side of the truck and it fell over during the first sharp turn. I thought we just hit a bump but the driver knew immediately what had happened. We went into the back to inspect the aftermath and a grand pianos was on it's side with a dolly wheel sticking through the hood. We still delivered it and set it up, but there was a hole in the hood and it was on display during the recital. The looks we were getting from people at the recital sent blades through the air, every gaze was like whip striking my back. I was fired. Rightfully so.
