It’s one of the most anticipated films of 2020, and now some brief new details about Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” have emerged courtesy of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” actor Oscar Isaac.
Isaac is set to play Duke Leto Atreides, father of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and partner of Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) in the live-action adaptation of Frank Herbert’s legendary novel.
The ambitious film, the first of a proposed two-film adaptation, doesn’t open until this time next year and Isaac tells EW that the new film is a “wholly, wholly different thing” from the previous flawed but ambitious David Lynch 1984 adaptation and the low-budget 2000 mini-series adaptation:
“I couldn’t imagine anyone more suited for the tone of the original Frank Herbert novels than Denis. There are some things that are – for lack of a better word – nightmarish about what you see… There’s just this kind of brutalist element to it. It’s shocking. It’s scary. It’s very visceral. And I know that definitely between Denis and myself and Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson as the family unit, we really searched for the emotion of it. I’m beyond myself with excitement. I think it’s good to feel cool, unique, and special.”
Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, and David Dastmalchian also star in the film which Villeneuve has previously dubbed “Star Wars for adults”. “Dune” opens in cinemas on December 18th 2020.

I really hope that's just somebody giving the writer bad info, or the writer getting that wrong. Duke Leto and Lady Jessica not being married is a a major plot point.

There is a moment in Blade Runner when they approach a pyramid-like building from Tryrell corporation, watching the design, specially of the interiors, made me believe that he could pull off Dune.
