Sorry yall, but this is how they train us. "Food cost" and proper portioning are hammered into our brains from day one.
Stores with a high amount of waste get pestered by district managers, who pester the general manager, who pester the supervisors, who pester the poor 17 year old "snitch".
When you let it slide a few times the customers eventually come to expect free food everytime. It gets annoying. Some girl used to give this old guy free soda every time he came in and now i gotta deal with him demanding sprite from me for no charge.
It also comes to a point where it feels like the customer is attempting to take advantage of the position you are in. "Gimmie free shit or you a bitch!" is the mentality a lot of these people get.
