Boba Fett showed up in the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), which came out before Empire Strikes back (1980), making it his first appearance. He also uses the same rifle The Mandalorian uses in the show.
I absolutely love Boba Fett's casual animal abuse and insistence on calling the Rebels "friend" over and over in the holiday special. Really tips you off to him being the bad guy before it's revealed.
