The Tamaskan is a dog breed that looks like a wolf but with zero wolf blood. It is a happy and friendly pet. No terriers were eaten in the making of this post.

The Tamaskan breed is a relatively new breed developed out of a desire to produce a dog that looks very similar to a wolf, but that has normal domestic dog behaviour.

This may help reduce production of wolfdog hybrids that can often go on to behave naturally wolflike as they mature (territorial, free ranging, non-‘puppyish’, pack behaviour, aggression) and suffer unsuitable homes/rescue as a result.

The Tamaskan comes from dog breeds such as the husky, malamute, eskimo dog and German shepherd. It is currently not recognised as an official breed but has a standard and breeding dogs are tested for potential genetic faults.

Edit: The Tamaskan is recognised by the American Rare Breed Association

I have a 9 year old tamaskan! She is an incredibly sweet animal and loves people and dogs. Here are a few pictures of her: https://i.imgur.com/seqZyki.jpg and https://i.imgur.com/C0Z2u19.jpg. The only issue is bad separation anxiety. She requires more love and care because of that.
