For those wondering about 1970 the salary was £1079 and house price £4056.

By using data that's not adjusted for inflation, plotting two series one of which is much larger than the other, and using a zero that's not at the baseline of the chart, this visualization makes the comparison between salary and house price in the UK look much more dramatic than it is.

House prices have indeed increased more than incomes have in the UK, but "only" by a factor of two, and the ratio of home price to income has been fairly stable in the UK since 2004.

Can we re-plot this with Median salaries and Median home prices? Averages skew too heavy towards expensive homes.
