I wish this were the common take on things.

It's also fine to say "I don't know enough about this topic to have an opinion right now."

"Jeremy Jamm: Why do you keep flip-flopping?

Leslie: Well, because I learned new information. When I was four, I thought that chocolate milk came from brown cows. And then I flip-flopped when I found out there was something called chocolate syrup."

This statement is way more poignant than at first glance.

I think a huge problem is society is that people ‘dig in’ with their opinions instead of allowing them to be fluid.

Another reason why education is so important. For instance science is constantly adjusting opinions based on new facts (geocentric vs heliocentric), and even social sciences as well (Freud pretty much disregarded nowadays). You learn how to adjust your opinions via education. It’s a skill that needs to be taught and practiced just like any other.

Education shows us that not only is this ok, it’s necessary to progress.
