The other night I gave a man my gloves, a decent pair of gloves with a basic pair of fingerless gloves over the top, super warm. I know because I use these for the chill warehouse I work in, but I thought I could just buy another pair. He took them, then called me a prick because of the very small hole in one of the fingers.
Where I used to work, I'd always walk pass this one homeless guy. Usually just an exchange of "hey man" or "how's it going?" Occasionally, I'd have some change to give him.
One day he stopped me and asked, "can I get a nickel?" I laughed and said, "sorry Willie, I don't have a nickel." Without missing a beat, he said "how bout a dolla?"
Don't know why, but I'll never forget the way he said it. Still makes me laugh.
