Jerry Sandusky denied break, is resentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison again

A judge gave Jerry Sandusky no break Friday when she re-sentenced the disgraced Penn State football coach to 30 to 60 years in prison for molesting multiple boys.

That is the same punishment Sandusky, now 75, received when he was first sentenced seven years ago.

So, given Judge Maureen Skerda’s decision, Sandusky has about another 23 years to serve behind bars before he even comes up for consideration for parole.

Sandusky’s resentencing was prompted by a change in the law. His original sentence was based on mandatory sentencing guidelines that have since been overturned.

A Centre County jury convicted Sandusky of committing an array of child-sex crimes against clients of his youth charity, the Second Mile, between 1994 and 2008.

Sandusky has steadfastly maintained his innocence. Penn State has paid more than $100 million in settlements to more than 30 of his victims.

Just last month, Penn State officials confirmed they are investigating a new abuse claim against Sandusky.

Sandusky isn’t finished appealing. He filed his latest legal challenge to his convictions in federal court in October.
