Yep, but that's why the Jedi Knight games are so fun because they don't nerf the saber.
If the blade touches a stormtrooper, he dies. If you get hit with a heavy lightsaber attack, you die. If you perfectly time a diagonal swing so it connects with an opponent's head he dies. And best of all, if you land a forward roll and stab, then any enemy saber wielder is likely toast. And dismemberment can happen too I think.
